Summary0005524: Catalog drag-and-drop now creates complete source mappings for all roles
Description

When dragging tables or columns from the database catalog onto the model, CaseTalk now records the source mapping for every role in the resulting fact types — including both the identifying role (linked to the primary key) and the attribute role (linked to the column being dragged).

Previously, only the primary key roles of a newly created entity received a source mapping. Dragging additional columns to create attribute fact types left those roles without any mapping, making it impossible to later populate the fact type from the source database.

What improved:

  • Dragging a column onto an existing entity now maps both roles of the resulting binary fact type: the attribute role is mapped to the source column, and the entity role is mapped using the full identifying path (including primary key information) duplicated from the entity.
  • The Create New Entity wizard now includes an optional 'Create source mapping for roles' checkbox. This allows users to create entities without automatically attaching a source mapping — useful when working purely at the conceptual level without a direct database source.
