Today CaseTalk classifies object/fact types by concept type using a fixed built-in set (covering ELM and ArchiMate). This request makes that classification configurable and extensible: classification schemes ("taxonomies") are defined in external files that CaseTalk picks up automatically, so new or customer-specific schemes can be added without a new release.

Each scheme is a hierarchy - for example ArchiMate's Business / Application / Technology / Strategy / Motivation layers, each with its elements - and every entry can carry its own colour and icon. A single model element can be classified under several schemes at the same time (for example ELM and ArchiMate together).

The classification files share the CaseTalk KIT format, so a scheme can be drafted, exported and re-imported with KIT, or written by hand. CaseTalk discovers them as .cct files placed in the CaseTalk settings folder.

This general mechanism can also serve the more specific classifications requested in 0004102 (container function/role) and 0004024 (model-reach 'eye-counting' scheme).
